At Playing With The Wind

"Humanity has played with fire for long enough, perhaps it is time, to Play With The Wind".
Game Nights
Bringing the community together for some light and fun activity.
If you don't understand the power of agendaless play, then this is not for you.
We have been consistently hosting Game Nights for all ages (mostly adults) since the pandemic.
All our games are aimed at aimlessness. They are easy to learn, fun to play and hard to forget!
We don't need to make more memories, we need to make more out of the ones we already have. Game Night has perfected this; leaning in to the people's demand to enjoy themselves and sneakily supplying them with more than they asked for.
When human beings play, magic happens. We learn about ourselves, about each other, about systems and design; all the while laughing and screaming.
The collective experience is impalpable, while the excitement is instinctual. It's as human as food, as music, as art, as dance, yet we lock it behind screens and boxes. Games are who we are, so don't wonder "Why am I spending an evening playing like a child?", because in reality, that thought itself is childish, while games on the otherhand, have, and always will be universal.

Our first in the current series, lead by Aditi and Niom.

A month's work, culminating in our most detailed Game Night yet.

Still going strong! Join us for the next one =)

Contact Improv
-A Playful Aproach-

What happens when we slow down?
We notice our body, our breath and the space around us. We stop moving to an imposed rhythm; and start moving to our own.
Contact Improvisation (CI) is a movement practice built on physical conversation – no choreography, no fixed steps — just free bodies sharing weight, following momentum, and responding to each other in real time.
We learn to listen through touch, to give and receive support and to move together as one, without planning it.
In a CI class, we learn the basics of weight sharing, moving points of contact and body awareness.
In a jam, we openly explore the practice of CI in solos, duets, trios or even large groups — where you're both the mover and the witness.
No performance and no audience. This practice is centered around presence, authenticity, and respect for everybody and every body in the room.
I could say more, but the only way to know it is to experience it.
Gamedesign In Real Life
(GIRL)
Have you ever wondered what we can learn by Designing IRL Games? Through 8 years of playing, facilitating and designing games in real life, I've continually realised the potential for experientially learning about systems, design and behaviour in GIRL - Gamedesign In Real Life.
Games are mini systems. Just like the medical system, the judicial system or the education system, games have players, roles, written / unwritten rules and outcomes; just on a much smaller and easier to understand scale. Observing how changing the rules and roles affects player behaviour and documenting the outcomes, we can see how systems really work.
Designing games is also a uniquely insightful way to learn about design principles. Creating a good game, just like making a good website, transit system or garment; means designing for enjoyment, ease, utility, access and aesthetics. Unlike the others where it's either not feasible or not clear how to test to what extent the beta version is able achieve its goal, games are quick and fun to test. Additionally, the observations and feedback can be assessed with more clarity which is necessary for someone who is new to the iterative process / prototyping.
Observing how players choose to act within the framework of a game is an ethical way to get an intuitive understanding of human behaviour that give Gamedesigners key insights into their audience, colleagues, customer base and even friends and family. Whichever walk of life one takes, being aware of what it means to be human is skill that is unavoidable. So let's embrace it! Knowing who we are as a species is one of the greatest joys life has to offer. It is why I design games, and it's why I'll never stop.
